Today many people America say “SLAVERY IS FINALLY OVER” haha, right? Well In this blog post I will be discussing labor trafficking also known as Modern Day Slavery.
Labor trafficking is one of the divisions within Human trafficking that still occurs worldwide and in the United States. This type of trafficking is when a human being is forced, coerced or tricked into doing work. There are three types of labor trafficking forced labor, bonded labor and child labor.
. Texas is well known state we live in and believe it or not there is trafficking here too. Texas is the 2nd highest in the nation for the number of calls to the national trafficking resource center and Houston being the highest city with the most amount of trafficking calls. There about 80,000 total underage children that are victims of sex trafficking in Texas. That's more than half of the amount of the victims in the whole nation (100,000).
‘ Today just an hour ago a judge interrupted a jury in a child trafficking case saying that GOD told him the defendant is not guilty. God told him that Romero-Perez ,who is guilty of trafficking a 16-year-old girl for sex, is innocent? Jack Robison, the judge, later apologized but said, “when God tells me I gotta do something, I gotta do it.” I don’t know about you but that’s pretty stupid if you ask me. , Speaking of Human Trafficking, January is HUMAN TRAFFICKING AWARENESS MONTH. Cyntonia Brown 26 was once a child sex trafficked victim. In 2004 she was 16 and shot her violent trafficker to death. She was sent to jail for life. I believe that this is not fair she doesn’t deserve to be treated like a criminal in jail. The poor 16 year old has been sold and mistreated by a man she doesn’t know. What do you expect her to do, just give her self up to that man or fight. I am not the only one who thinks this way many famous celebrities like Rihanna,LeBron James,Snoop Dog,Cara Delevingne and Kim Kardashian West are fighting for the freedom she deserves. I really hope they take her out of jail because I honestly don’t think she did anything wrong by defending herself. Thus we should all share her story and help fight for her freedom. Prostitution and sex services are 46% of all types of trafficking that goes on in America. Sex trafficking is human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation, including sexual slavery. This occurs when a trafficker sells a victim to do sexual services
In the United States 100,000 to 300,000 under aged girls are being sold for sex. 1 out of 3 kids who are on the street will be lured toward prostitution or pornography within 48 hours of running away from home and 15 times a day a trafficked minor is sold for sex. In November there were many traffickers who were arrested including a 31 year old man named Brock Franklin. Franklin was found guilty for human trafficking minors and adults. He will be sentenced for 472 years. All in all Sex trafficking is a form of modern slavery that exists throughout the United State and out of all sex trafficked victims 98% are under aged girls. By now many people in America know that all forms of slavery has ended, but has it? Human trafficking is the trade of humans for the purpose of forced labor, sexual slavery, or commercial sexual exploitation for the trafficker or others and this still goes on today. The reason I decided to writing about this topic is because I feel like it is a very serious problem that is been going on in our country for a long time. Human trafficking is still occurring in America today and many people in our nation still don’t know about it. So by writing this blog, I hope I can inform you all about human trafficking in America. In my next blog posts I will write about types of trafficking, its history, human trafficking today , people who have experienced of being trafficked, and more. |
